Premium Worm Castings - Growing Healthier Plants Naturally

Planting

Before planting seeds or seedlings, evenly spread 1 gallon of worm castings, a great natural soil amendment, per 30 sq. ft. of garden area. 

Work the worm castings 2” deep into the garden soil, then thoroughly saturate with water to flush the beneficial microorganisms and minerals into the garden soil, enhancing your organic gardening efforts.

Transplanting Seedlings / Potted Plants

Dig a hole 3 times the size of your potted plant or seedling. Add one large handful of worm castings into the hole, aiming for about 1 inch of castings. 

Fill the remainder of the hole with garden soil that has been mixed with worm castings, and water thoroughly to support healthy growth.

Mid-Season

In July (northeast U.S.), work more worm castings into the soil around each plant and water thoroughly to keep your organic gardening thriving.

Potting Soil

You can make an effective potting mix by combining 3 to 4 parts potting soil with 1 part worm castings. For seedlings, consider using a seedling mix or sifting the potting soil to remove larger particles first.

House Plants

In your house plants, work about 1 inch of worm castings into the top of the soil in the pot and water thoroughly. Be cautious when using castings in plants that require acidic soil or need good drainage.

Always dilute your worm tea to enhance its effectiveness as a natural soil amendment in your organic gardening practices. 

General Use - Dilute 10 parts water to 1 part worm tea. 

Seedlings or sensitive plants - Dilute 20 parts water to 1 part tea. 

Established plants or heavy eaters - Dilute 5 parts water to 1 part tea. 

Using a watering can helps to amend the soil, providing longer-lasting benefits. Water your plants before applying the worm tea. You don’t want to saturate the ground, but ensure it is damp enough to absorb the tea. 

Thoroughly water with the diluted tea mixture. Reapply every 2-4 weeks.

Foliar Spray - A fast-acting method for a quick boost. After diluting your worm tea, strain it through an old t-shirt or cheesecloth into your sprayer to prevent clogs. Spray your plants in the early morning or late evening, making sure to coat both the top and bottom of the leaves. Reapply every 2-4 weeks.

Storing Worm Castings

Store your worm castings in a cool area, away from sunlight, to ensure they don’t freeze. Make sure to crack the lid on the container so the castings can breathe, which is essential for maintaining their quality as a natural soil amendment. Check occasionally and spritz with water if the top dries out. Properly maintained, stored castings will last for months, making them a great asset for organic gardening.
